Pansye Oneida (Brown) Chapman 1925-2008

Pansye Oneida Chapman, the youngest of three daughters born to the union of the late Virgil B. and Cora (Logan) Brown, was born August 8, 1925 in Bloodland, Missouri where she grew up. She attended Bloodland School through the 8th grade where her mother taught. The family then moved to Turkey Ridge where she met John Thomas Dodd.

Pansye was united in marriage to J.T. Dodd by her uncle Judge M.D. (Dick) Brown in Waynesville, Missouri. Pansye and J.T. lived in Springfield, Illinois where he passed away on August 23, 1954. She then moved to Waynesville, Missouri to be near her family. Pansye later married Donald Francis Chapman on May 4, 1976 in Camdenton, Missouri. They shared over 22 years of marriage together before Donald preceded her in death in November 1998. Pansye was blessed with two daughters: Shirley and Tammy.

While in Springfield, Illinois, Pansye worked as a waitress. After moving back to the Waynesville, Missouri area, she began working as a cashier at the Waynesville IGA. Pansye lived in her home until her illness caused her to reside at Dixon Nursing & Rehab.

In her spare time, Pansye enjoyed being outdoors on perfect days while she cared for her roses. She was very talented with her hands and liked to do needlework, sewing and crocheting. Most importantly, she treasured the times that she could spend with her family and friends.

Pansye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville and later attended the First Christian Church of Waynesville until her health no longer permitted her to do so.

Pansye went home to be with her Lord at 12:45A.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Center of Dixon, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Pansye leaves to cherish her memory four children: Tammy Weber and her husband, Jay of Laquey, MO, Shirley Conley and her husband, Ed of Waynesville, MO, Ginger Haghi-Pour and her husband, Ali of Angleton, TX, and Jim Chapman and his wife, Billie of Cuba, MO; 11 grandchildren: Michelle, Christopher, Shana, Jacob, Heather, Roger, Shannon, Kim, Sarah, B.J. and Jilla; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Pansye was preceded in death by one grandson: Ed Conley, Jr. and two sisters: Gladys Wilson and Emma Collins.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2008 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wilbur Harbaugh officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Serenaded By Angels" and "Amazing Grace". Serving as escorts were family and friends. Serving as honorary escorts were Edward Conley, Jr. and Christopher Brown.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
