Dora Estella (Logan) Laughlin 1870-1957

Dora Estella Laughlin, daughter of Jacob Henry and Margaret E. Logan, was born in Pulaski County, near Waynesville, Missouri, on July 27, 1870 and departed this life in Waynesville on September 10, 1957 at the age of 87 years past.

She was united in marriage on February 16, 1887 to James Laughlin. To this union nine children were born. They lived at this time on what is known as the old Laughlin farm and reared their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, two daughters, two brothers, and seven sisters.

She had been in failing health for a number of years, and in June of last year was admitted to the hospital for treatment , and since then her condition had steadily grown worse.

Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, Orville and Roy, and two daughters, Mrs. Nora Elfie Budd and Mrs. Lola Mae Ichord, all of Waynesville, and Mrs. Cora Ousley of Caseyville, Illinois. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.

When a young girl, she was converted and united with the old Friendship Baptist Church and later, when the church was torn down, she moved her membership to the Waynesville Baptist Church. She was a kind and loving mother, sister and friend and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services under direction of Hedges Funeral Home of Waynesville were held Friday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waynesville Baptist Church with Rev. B.R. Tatum and Rev. Dallas Wells officiating. Interment was in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

Pall bearers, all grandsons, were Johny Ichord, Oscar Ichord, James Laughlin, Jimmie Lee Laughlin, Claudie Laughlin, and Wayne Laughlin.
