Dorothea "Dottie" Mae (Coffin) Martin 1926-2005

Dorothea "Dottie" Mae Martin, of Dixon, Missouri was born on
January 30, 1926, in the city of St Louis, Missouri, a daughter of
Wallace David and Verda Lee (Compton) Coffin, and departed this life
at 2:48 a.m., Sunday, February 27, 2005, at her residence in Dixon.
She had been in failing health for some time and had attained the
age of 79 years, and 25 days.
Mrs. Martin was united in marriage on November 17, 1946, at St.
John's, Missouri, to Edgar Carl Martin, and to this union three sons
were born. She was preceded in death by her father in April 1983,
her mother on March 22, 1985 and one brother, David Coffin in April
1993.
Mrs. Martin had accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vienna and a member of
the Gideon Auxiliary.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed writing children's stories and poems,
traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was
a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Martin include: her
husband, Ed Martin, of the home, Dixon; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Ed Jr. and Kathy Martin, Webster Groves, Missouri,
Donald J. "Jeff' and Susan M. Martin, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Steve
and Anita Martin, Dixon, Missouri.
One brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Connie Coffin, Oakland,
Missouri; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Earl Smith,
Hallsville, Missouri and Ruth and Charles Kutscher, Fabius, New
York.
Thirteen grandchildren, Ed III, Andrew, Philip, Hannah, Amy,
Joshua, Daniel, Emma Lea, Christianne, Elizabeth, Stephen, Jedidiah
and Samuel; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica; and a host
of family and friends.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mrs.
Martin will indeed be sadly missed by her family and all who knew
and loved her.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Martin at 10 a.m., on
Friday, March 4, 2005, at the First Baptist Church, Vienna, Missouri
with Rev. Cameron R. Moles, pastor, officiating.
A poem was read, titled "The Right Choice" written by Mrs.
Martin. Two songs, "In The Garden" and "Beulah Land", were sung by
Lisa Applegate and Angela Moles. One congregational song, "Amazing
Grace" was led by Rena Stark, First Baptist Church Choir Director,
for the funeral service.
Interment was in the Kenner Cemetery, Dixon, Missouri, under the
direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral
Homes.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Martin were Edgar Martin III, Joshua Martin,
Keith Gaffing, Phillip Martin, Daniel Smith, and Paul Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Feeler, Ellis Crum Jr., George Wadlow,
Gary Applegate, Ed House, and Billy Cloyde.
