On July 19, 1910 she was united in marriage to Floyd H. Black, who preceded her in death, Feb 9, 1956. To this union 9 children were born, all of whom survive. Four sons and five daughters, namely: james R. and Thomas H. of Richland, George W. of Edgar Springs, and Verlan A. of Ukriah, California, Helen Anderson, Watye Nicks, Della Howlett and Mary Lou Southard all of Richland, Loraine Meilahn of Bellevue, Nebraska, and one step-daughter, Ruth Harrison of Dixon, Missouri. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Lena Long, Richland and Evelyn Williams and Gladys Carter of Waynesville, 3 brothers, Alf Sanders of Richland, Tom Sanders of Beulah, Fred Sanders of Herculaneum, Missouri, several other relatives and many, many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers, and three sisters.
Ida was converted at an early age and united with the Prospect Baptist Church and later moved her membership to the Fairview Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health prevented her attending. She was loved by all who knew her.
Funeral services for Ida E. Black were held on Wednesday June 26, 1974 at 2 p.m. at the Richland First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Longnecker officiating. Mr. Dwight Roam sang, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Mildred Farmer. The burial was in the Idumea Cemetery directed by Moss-Williams Funeral Home of Richland.
The pallbearers were grandsons: Robert Howlett, Morris Howlett, Max Howlett, George Douglas Black, J.R. Black, Larry Southard.
