Laurence Monroe Ruston 1922-1982

Laurence Monroe Ruston, son of John Ruston and Florence Wilson Ruston, was born in Goodland, Kansas on July 9, 1922, and departed this life at Fort Leonard Wood Hospital on July 14, 1982 having attained the age of 60 years.

He serves as a member of the United States Army for thirty years. He engaged in World War II and the Korean War. He served his country with a devotion that was evidenced by his many awards and service medals, among them the bronze star. On his retirement from the military service, Laurence and his wife, Rosina, lived in St. Robert, Missouri where they have many friends and he was loved and respected by all who knew him and with whom he had served.

He was a life time member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3176, Waynesville, Missouri, St. Robert.

Funeral Mass was held Monday, July 19, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel with Chaplain (Major) Wayne Schmid officiating.

Full Military services were held. Interment was in the Main Post Cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Rosina of the home, one daughter, Shirley Carter, his son-in-law, Ronald E. Carter and one grandson, Jason Carter, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, two sisters and many other relatives and friends.
