Patrick L. Young 1931-1984

Patrick L. Young, son of Valentine and Alma Young, was born in Corder, Missouri, on May 28, 1931, and he departed this life at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital on February 17, 1984 in his 52nd year.

He united in marriage to Hildegard (Schwab) Young April 16, 1958. They shared 25 years together and to this union four daughters were born.

Patrick served as a member of the United States Army for 20 years and engaged in combat in Korea. He retired in September 1969. He served his country with integrity, loyalty, and pride. This was also shown by his receiving several medals and awards. On retirement from the military he and his family made their home in Waynesville area, where he has many friends.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he was loved by all who knew him and with whom he had served.

He is survived by his loving wife Hildegard, four daughters- Monika Clifton of Alaska; Connie Denny of Lake Ozark, Missouri; Bernice Tinsley and Candy Young both of Waynesville, Missouri; three grandsons- Danny Clifton, Jason Tinsley, and Andy Denny, one brother- James Bockleman of Arizona, one sister, Mildred Nayta of Higginsville, Missouri, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, 1984- 2:00 p.m. at the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with (Cpt) Allen Herneisen officiating. Interment was in the VFW Ozark Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Rites. Services were under direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Escorts were Military. Honorary Escorts: James Clifton, Willie Williams, Sam Givens, Raymundo Madrid, Hank Veach, Luther Thomas, Bob Powers, Mike Chavis, Floyd Hood, and Mike Wallabe. VFW Post 3176 Memorial services were held Monday, February 20, 1984 7:30 p.m. at the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
