Dennis Wayne Head 1947-1986

Dennis Wayne Head, of rural Waynesville, passed away Friday, September 12, 1986 at the age of 39 years, 1 month, and 26 days.

He was born a son of Lindell V. and Audell G. (Boren) Head on July 16, 1947 in Fredericktown, Missouri.

Dennis married Mary Catherine Williams on July 29, 1984.

He owned and operated the Stone Mountain Army Surplus Store on the Ft. Wood Spur.

Dennis like people and always stood ready to give any kind of assistance to his friends.  It was not his nature to criticize.

Dennis was an outdoor person.  He loved to fish.  As a small boy, he enjoyed hunting.  He enjoyed growing flowers, plants, and a garden.  Dennis liked exploring old caves.  Finding Indian relics was a particular pleasure.  He liked all animals, and gave many stray dogs, cats and horses a home.  Birds were a major interest.  He was a rock music enthusiast.

He had an associate degree in Business Administration from Central Texas College.

Dennis will be sadly missed by all his loved ones and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 16, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jess Norris officiating.  Music was provided by organist, Dorothy Moore.

Escorts were: Wayne Gifford, Leo Gladden, Richard Hale, Johnny Jackson, Dean Nester, and Mark Snow.  Honorary escorts were Jesse Sharp and Richard Triggs.

Interment was in the Hooker Cemetery, Devils Elbow, Missouri under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, and one daughter; two step-sons, and one step-daughter; his father, Lindell V. Head, one sister, Jerry Ellen Stephens, and one brother, Vernon Lee Head, all of Fredericktown, Missouri.
