Bertha Ann (Bilyeu) Hance 1898-1986

Bertha Ann Hance was born in Miller County on Oct. 22, 1898 the daughter of Francis and Paradine Alexander Bilyeu and passed away on March 2, 1986.  She had attained the age og 87 years.

She was united in marriage to Floyd Hance on November 8, 1919 and unto this union one son and one daughter were born.

Bertha was a member of the Church of Christ, a member of the Friendship Club, was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Dixon area, wrote the church news for the Pilot, loved to read and enjoyed her flowers and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ on Wednesday, March 5, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Charles Pitts officiating.  Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Dixon.  Serving as her pallbearers were Robert Hollis, Robert Perkins, Robert Wilson, William Johnson, Kenneth Allen and Wilford Alexander.

She is survived by one son Lloyd Hance of Spanish Lake, Missouri; one daughter Frances White of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Debra Walters, Cheryl Hance, Ann Willis and Connie Werth; three great grandchildren, Stacy, Stephanie and Kelly; one sister Stella Allen of Dixon, one brother Jesse Bilyeu Sr. of Dixon with many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Martha Law.
