Helen Lucille (Smith) Spargur 1901-1985

Helen Lucille Spargur was born a daughter of William Fredrick and Bertha Bell (Bowen) Smith on August 29,1901 in Queen City, Missouri, and she departed this life December 23, 1985 at the Sunset Village of the Ozarks, Waynesville, Missouri, having attained the age of 84 years, three months, 24 days.

Mrs. Spargur resided in Old Farm Estates until the past few months, she had made her home at the Sunset Village of the Ozarks.

She was a member of the Queen City Methodist Church, Queen City, Missouri and had attended the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church after moving to Waynesville in 1972.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Hanson Chapter No. 22, of Waynesville, Missouri.  She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Spargur was married to James Roy Spargur on December 25, 1024 and to this union was norn one daughter, Virginia.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia, and son-in-law, Luther Thomas of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Beverly Stroud of Atlanta, Georgia and Donald Thomas of Dixon, Missouri; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her father and mother, and one brother, Perley Glenn Smith who died in World War I.

Visitation will be held at the Waynesville Memorial Chapel Thursday, December 26, 1985 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Funeral Services were held Friday, December 27, 1985 at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist Church at Queen City, Missouri.  Burial was in the Queen City Cemetery under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City.
