Amanda Josephine Welch Laughlin 1895-1958

Amanda Josephine Welch Laughlin, was born in Phelps County, Missouri, May 19, 1895. She departed this life at Waynesville General Hospital February 20, 1958 at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 1 day.

Early in life she was converted and united with the Hopewell Baptist Church at Big Piney, later moving her membership to the Waynesville Baptist Church. Several years ago she moved her membership to the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, a teacher of various classes, and held her positions until the time of her death.

On February 3, 1914 she was united in marriage to Orville Laughlin. To this union was born one son.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Orville Laughlin, her son, James Laughlin, sister Clara Elkins of Waterford, California, four brothers, Tom Welch of Roby, Missouri, Sam and John Welch of Ceres, California, and __larence Welch of Gallup, New Mexico, ___ grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Revs. Dallas Wells and B.R. Tatum, were held at the Waynesville Baptist Church on Sunday, February 23. Interment was in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Claudie Laughlin, Orville Welch, Walter Nichols, Dale Welch, Oscar Ichord, and Wayne Laughlin.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Orville Laughlin Held Last Sunday

Mrs. Orville Laughlin, pioneer resident of Pulaski County, passed away last Thursday at the Waynesville General Hospital where she had been a patient for about two weeks. Mrs. Laughlin had suffered from a heart condition for a number of years. She and Mr. Laughlin were well known residents of the Mt. Gibson community and were active in church and civic affairs.

J_____ as Mrs. Laughlin was known to her host of friends, was one of the best known and best liked ladies of this community. She will be sadly missed, not only by her family, but by many neighbors and friends. We join in extending our sympathy to Orville and James and family in their hour of sorrow.
