Lelia Helen Hale Atwell Samuelson Loghry 1911-2001

Lelia Helen Hale Atwell Loghry, Delta, was born on Feb. 24, 1911, at Crossroads in Miller County, Mo., the daughter of Samuel H. and Beulah Helen (Null) Hale. She died Friday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Delta County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was 89. Mrs. Loghry was first married on March 31, 1934, at Iberia, Mo., to Arthur Atwell. They had one daughter. After Mr. Atwell’s death, she married S.W. Samuelson of Riverton, Wyo., in October 1959. He also preceded her in death. In December 1985, she married Gerald Loghry in Riverton, Wyo.; he survives. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lena Martin Long and Gladys Deardeuff. Mrs. Loghry taught Sunday school for many years and prior to her marriage to Mr. Atwell, she was a grade school teacher. She had a real and living faith. She was a free lance writer of religious articles, humor and poetry. She also wrote a weekly column for the Riverton Ranger for years. She was a devoted homemaker and housewife all her life. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Loghry of Delta; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Wendell Putman of Cedaredge; her stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four brothers, Norman Hale of Wright City, Mo., Robert Hale of Cohokia, Ill., Bill Hale of St. Louis, Mo., and Ted Hale of Lebanon, Mo.; and two sisters, Nina Hess of Jerome, Mo., and June Reising of Salem, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with Rev. John Parker, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dixon, Mo., officiating. Interment was in the Dixon, Mo., under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
