Ursie Veasman Smith 1896-1986

Ursie Veasman Smith, of Dixon, was born on March 27, 1896, the daughter of Christian and Drusilla Allen Veasman, and departed this life at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 10, 1986, at the Fallbrook Hospital, San Diego County, California, after being taken there by ambulance.  Mrs. Smith had been in failing health for several years and following the death of her husband in 1983, she had made her home with her son in San Diego County, California.  Mrs. Smith had attained the age of 90 years and 14 days.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, where her parents had been charter members when the church was founded.  Fond memories of Mrs. Smith will lone be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Smith was united in marriage on February 5, 1944 at Rolla to Charles Chester Smith.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Smith at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday afternoon, April 13, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Edward W. Hamilton, First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Smith were Don Shackelford, William Johnson, Norman Porter, Paul Beydler, Joe Jennings and Frank Lipscomb.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Smith include: One son, Rex Veasman Scott, San Diego County, California; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by Mr. Smith on December 7, 1983, and also by two brothers, Husted Veasman and Harold Veasman, as well as her parents.

  1. Thank you for posting. I learned my great grandparents were charter members of the First Baptist Church of Dixon.

    I just wish there was a way to print the obit.
