Dr. Fred A. Smith 1901-1984

Dr. Fred A. Smith, son of James and Siota Northrip Smith was born August 27, 1901 in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life July 14, 1984 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

On December 19, 1922 he was united in marriage to Alma Dowty. To this union two sons were born. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorena. He is survived by his faithful companion, Alma, of the home; two sons, Elliott of Stoutland and Channing of Richland; four grandchildren, Cynthia Smith of Jefferson City, Kendall Smith of Kileen, Texas, Randall Smith of Olathe, Kansas and Lex Smith of Richland.

He was a graduate of the Kansas City Western Dental College where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Richland Masonic Lodge #385 and had attained the rank of 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Springfield Shriners Club.

He practiced dentistry for 45 years in Lebanon and surrounding communities. He also maintained a successful farming operation at his home near Richland, Missouri.

The memory of a loving husband, father, and grandfather will live forever in the hearts of all his family, neighbors, and many friends.
