When she was 16 years old she came with her family to live in Crocker where she spent the rest of her life. Effie graduated from the Crocker High School and attended the Christian College in Columbia, Missouri.
On November 12, 1922 she was married to George Tallman Hoops and to this union two daughters and one son were born. She spent many years working with her husband in the J.L. Hoops and Sons store. She liked people and knew everyone in the community.
She was a member of the Crocker Presbyterian Church, the Crocker Garden Club, the Mangua Chapter of the DAR and the Pulaski County Hospital Auxiliary.
Funeral services were conducted on November 17, 1982 at the Crocker Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. with Phillip Cassibry and Randy Hoffman officiating.
Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home of Crocker, Missouri.
Pallbearers were: Harold Hamilton, Roy Krouse, Herbert Krouse, John Elliott, Virgil Carmack, and Larry Salveter.
She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Eads of Iberia and Mary Ann Kamins of Crocker, one son, George of Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Lois Krouse Carver of Douglas, Wyoming, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Kate Copp Krouse and her husband George Tallman Hoops, and one brother, Gerald Krouse.
