Albert Eugene Johnson 1916-1985

Albert Eugene Johnson was born a son to Albert Elhannon and Mary (Boatwright) Johnson on August 25, 1916 in Whitener, Arkansas and he departed this life on Saturday afternoon, June 8, 1985 at the General Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 68 years, 9 months, and 13 days.

On June 9, 1959, Albert was married to Mildred “Elaine” Simmons in Furth, Germany. Albert and Elaine spent 26 years together.

Albert served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1963, seeing action in World War II in Europe.

Albert worked for the Army Air Force Exchange Services at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, moving later to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri where he retired from AAFES.

Albert loved the Lord and visited often with Rev. Gene Partin from the Maranatha Baptist Church.

Albert enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Masons, having attained the Degree of Master Mason on April 26, 1949.

Albert will be sadly missed by his many friends and relatives including his wife, Elaine of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Shipley of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Mrs. Irene Pitss of Brea, California; one brother, Clyde Johnson of the state of California and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, 1985 at 2:30 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Partin officiating.

Music was provided by organist Marjorie Link.

Military personnel served as escorts.

Burial with full Military Honors was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel. Masonic services were held Tuesday evening, June 10, 1985 at 7:30 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel with Worshipful Master Marty Humphreys conducting.
