Price V. Prewett 1909-1984

Price V. Prewett, son of Boutwell and S. Ella Spaulding Prewett, was born January 23, 1909 in Pulaski County near Dixon, Missouri.

He was married to Ursie Rollins and to this union was born one daughter, Cora Lou.

He spent most of his life in Dixon and was owner of a grocery business for 17 years. After he sold the grocery business he later was vice president and chairman of the board of the State Bank of Dixon for 20 years before he retired in 1975, moving to Overland Park, Kansas in 1976.

Price was a member of The First Baptist Church, Dixon, Missouri for many years, but later transferred his membership to Leawood Baptist Church when he moved to Overland Park.

Mr. Prewett departed this life March 6, 1984 at the Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He had attained the age of 75 years. He and Ursie observed their 50th wedding anniversary January 31, 1980.

Price was interested in the activities of community organizations, was a member of A.U.S.A. (Association of the United States Army), former member of the Board of Directors of the Missouri Independent Bankers Association.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ursie, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law: Cora Lou and Bill Harding, Leawood, Kansas; two grandchildren: Gregory Harding, Mission, Kansas and Susan Harding, Aspen, Colorado; one sister Gladys Staley, St. Louis, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, “Bout” and Ella Prewett, step-mother, Lucy Prewett; four brothers: Everett, Chester, Pryor H. and Rice; three sisters: Daisy Prewett, Laura Bell Bowman and Minnie Page. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services for Price V. Prewett were Friday, March 9, 1984, 2:00 p.m. at Long Gilbert Chapel in Dixon, Missouri.

Officiating were Rev. Edwin Baur and Rev. Ed Hamilton.

Pallbearers were: George Durtschi, Fred Bieckman, Jake Veasman, Milford Brackett, Bennett Howell, and Charles R. Sease.

Honorary pallbearers were: Charles Sooter, V.L. Long, Louis Slone, Bill Jones, Charles Veasman, Luther Riddle, and Maurice Schierbaum.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery.

One nephew and one niece reside in Richland, Rev. Pryor R. Prewett and Mrs. Milford Brackett.
