Della Orlena (Bradford) Eskridge 1908-1985

Della Orlena Eskridge was born a daughter to William Henry Bradford and Hattie Rosena (Hopper) Bradford on September 27, 1908 in Lovington, Illinois and she departed this life on March 4, 1985 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, having attained the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Della was united in marriage to Alva Lee Eskridge on December 22, 1923 and to this union nine children were born. Della and Alva shared 59 years of marriage until Alva’s death on July 24, 1983.

Della lived much of her life in Illinois and Kentucky where she worked hard, along with her husband, to support her family.

She lived a good life to her own belief as wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, and grandmother.

Della Orlena Eskridge is survived by: four sons, Loren Lee Eskridge of Corydon, Indiana; Stanley Eskridge of Patterson, Louisiana; Roy Eskridge pf St. Petersburg, Florida, and Earl Eskridge of Louisville, Kentucky. Three daughters: Mary Louise Connell of St. Petersburg, Florida; Pearl Ann Allen of Hodgensville, Kentucky, and Betty Lue Phelps of Waynesville, Missouri, and one sister, Laura Jackson of Moweaqua, Illinois; 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Della Orlena Eskridge were held Thursday, March 7, 1985 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel with Max Downs officiating. Music was provided by Janell Walters, soloist and Marjorie Link, organist. Serving as escorts were Harold Conners, Stanley Eskridge, George Phelps, Victor Provencio, Butch Turner, and Rocky Watson. Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.
