Reverend Charles V. McGrew 1897-1984

Reverend Charles V. McGrew, 87 died at 8:21 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 1984 at Jane Phillips Memorial Hospital in Barlowsville, Oklahoma after a brief illness.

He was born January 19, 1897 in Hume, Missouri and attended pastor school at Siloam Springs, Arkansas and was active in the ministry from 1926 until 1962. His final church was Stella United Methodist Church. He served as pastor for 36 years in the West Missouri Methodist Conference.

He married Ethel Wilson on January 1, 1926 at Grandview, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1959.

Survivors are four daughters: Mrs. Wilma Linnard of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Grace Petty of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mrs. Ruth Daugherty of Independence, Missouri and Mrs. Lois Henson of Springfield, Missouri; three sons: Charles P. McGrew of Denver, Colorado, James A. McGrew of Dallas, Texas, and Larry L. McGrew of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother: J.L. McGrew of Nevada, Missouri; three sisters: Mrs. Maude Staton of Hume, Missouri, Miss Virginia McGrew of Butler, Missouri, and Mrs. Ruth Poole of Kansas City, Kansas; 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stella United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Rowland officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hume Cemetery at Hume, Missouri.

Memorial contributions in memory of Rev. McGrew may be made to the Stella United Methodist Church or in Care Of Clark Funeral Home, 312 S. Wood Street, Neosho, Missouri 64850.
