Estill P. Ravenscroft 1893-1984

Estill P. Ravenscroft, son of William Butler Ravenscroft, Sr., and Emma J. Phillips Ravenscroft, was born December 13, 1893 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life February 10, 1984 in the Lebanon Care Center.

On March 5, 1917 he was united in marriage with Winona M. Barnhart and to this union were born four children, all surviving.

He served with the United States Army during World War I, receiving an honorable discharge May 7, 1919.

Estill worked in construction from 1919 to 1930. He then was employed as caretaker of the Rotary Boys Club at Lee’s Summit, Missouri until 1949. He later was employed in the construction of Unity Village until 1951. He then moved to Hawkeye and in 1974 moved to Stoutland.

He was a member of the Baptist Church at Leeds, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Winona; two daughters: Mrs. Minnie Clay of Stoutland, Missouri and Mrs. Jean McMininy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons: Estill P. Ravenscroft, Jr., of Pensacola, Florida and James P. Ravenscroft of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Owns of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Mrs. Mary Margaret Sparks of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 12, 1984, 2:00 p.m. at Stoutland Christian Church with Rev. Frank Loehr officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist, and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were: Waldo Bethurem, Bill Fenton, Willard Hasty, Charles Holloway, Jerry Wellington, and Mack Clark.

Burial was in Stoutland Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.
