Herbert Lemuel Teague 1929-1983

Herbert Lemuel Teague, of Waynesville, Missouri, was born on December 17, 1929 at Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Levi and Lillian (Louden) Teague and departed this life on Thursday, November 10, 1983 at his home in Waynesville following a lengthy illness. He had attained the age of 53 years, 10 months, and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Esther Merriman on June 17, 1950 and unto this union 3 children were born.

He served 22 years in the United States Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and in Europe before retiring at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was awarded the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean and Vietnam Conflict Medals.

He had been a resident of the Waynesville area since 1971 and worked for Empire Gas Inc. for the past ten years.

Herbert leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Esther, of the home, 1 daughter, Betty Breedlove, 2 sons: Richard and Howard Teague, all of Waynesville, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, his parents, Levi and Lillian Teague of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters: Vivian Mathhews and Mildred Abbott, both of Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his brother G.L. Teague.

Herbert was an honest and fair man who loved his family and his country.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 12, 1983 at the Long Moss Williams Chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Lt. Col. Phillip J. Cassibry officiating.

Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home of Waynesville, Missouri. Military Honors were given at the graveside.
