He was born May 17, 1900 at Rock County, Minnesota. His father’s name was Knudt Jens Petersen. He is deceased. His mother’s name and her maiden name was Mathilda Krogman. She is deceased.
He attended public school at DeSmit, South Dakota. He attended technical school at Mitchell, South Dakota. He has lived in Holt Summit for four years. He moved there from Crocker, Missouri. He began farming as a six year old when he would plow behind a team. In later years he farmed at Russell, Minnesota. Then he moved to Crocker and farmed there until he retired in 1980. He was a Baptist.
He was married December 13, 1985 at Hardwick, Minnesota to Rose Ann Needler, of the home, who survives. Also one son, Robert H. Petersen, Fulton, Missouri; five daughters, Mary L. Wall, Route 3, Richland; Margaret Prewett, Richland; Marvella B. Stewart, Holt Summit; Karen H. Yoder, Mesquite, Texas and Susan B. Sundermeyer of New Bloomfield, Missouri. One brother, Bill Petersen, Albany, Oregon; three sisters, Edna Anderson, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Hilda Schellhammer, Phoenix, Arizona; Evelyn Pierson of Madison, South Dakota and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Howser Funeral Chapel, and again on Tuesday at the Eureka Baptist Church at Richland from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services were held at the Eureka Baptist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. and the minister was Rev. Pryor Ray Prewett. Burial was in Dowty Cemetery near Richland.
