Dave Greenstreet 1900-1985

Dave Greenstreet, son of John and Laura Wilson Greenstreet was born April 5, 1900 in Camden County and departed this life February 3, 1985 in Richland, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

He was united in marriage with Myra DeBerry on February 27, 1929 and would have soon celebrated 56 years together. To this union was born one son James, who survives.

As a young man Dave professed his faith in Jesus Christ was baptized and became a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church, later moving his membership to the Eureka Baptist Church. In July 1955 he became an ordained deacon and for many years taught the Men’s Sunday School Class. He loved his church and remained an active and faithful member as long as his health permitted.

Dave has made the Tri-County area his home all of his life, except for five years which he spent in North Missouri. He was a board member of the ASCS in Laclede County for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Myra, of the home; one son, James of Springfield, and his daughter-in-law Patsy; two sisters, Sally becker of Richland, and Myrtle Mitschele of Crocker; two grandchildren and one step-grandson; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jessie Thornsberry and Marie Durham, and an infant brother.

Services were held Wednesday, February 6, 1985 1:30 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Pryor Ray Prewett and Rev. Doug Jacobson officiating.

Music was provided by Dwight Roam, soloist, and Marcia Shadel, organist.

Escorts were: Don Johnson, Milford Brackett, Francis Barnes, Johnny Ray Prewett, Ralph Ogle, and Wayne Thornsberry.

Honorary escorts were: Cecil Johnson, Everett Ogle, Chandis Appling, and Alvin Brackett.

Interment was in the Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.
