Dorothy (Warner) Copening 1900-1983

Services for Dorothy Copening were held at First Baptist Church 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 1983. Officiating at the services was Rev. Roger Marshall. Music was provided by Dwight Roam, Soloist; and Mildred Farmer, Organist. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Escorts were: Jim Bill Goforth, J.B. Strain, Gary Brown, Charles W. McMahon, Dwight Roam, and Ben Scott. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.

Dorothy Warner Copening was born November 10, 1900 near Dublin, Missouri to William and Ella Langer Warner, and departed this life in St. Louis, Missouri on November 23, 1983 after a short illness.

She was united in marriage December 21, 1919 with William Paul Copening and to this union was born one son and one daughter. Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Swedeborg, Missouri.

As a young girl, she professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Swedeborg Baptist Church, later transferring her membership to the First Baptist Church in Richland, Mo.

Since her husband was a Telegrapher for Frisco Railroad, this necessitated their living in different places from St. Louis to Springfield, lastly in Swedeborg, Missouri. Shortly after the death of her husband in June of 1954, she moved to Richland where she has since made her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Paul Edwin, who while in military service, was killed in an automobile accident near Springfield, Missouri, along with an uncle. Dorothy was also preceded in death by five half brothers and sisters. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and H. Eugene Trotter of Manchester, MO.; one granddaughter Paula Hertel and one great granddaughter Lindsey Hertel, both of San Antonio, Texas. Also many other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.
