Gladys Belle (Fisher) Smith 1893-1984

Gladys Belle Smith was born a daughter of Judson Fisher and Ollie B. (Scott) Fisher on November 11, 1893 in Hamlin, Kansas, and she departed this life March 7, 1984 at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, having attained the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 25 days. She united in marriage to Marsh Smith, and to this union one son was born. She professed Christ at a very early age, and was also a Charter Member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Buckhorn, Missouri.

While living in Hiawatha, Kansas she and Mr. Smith worked together selling Real Estate, and after his death she continued on in the Real Estate Business. She came to Waynesville, Missouri to make her home 19 years ago, and while living here she has made many friends.

Mrs. Smith is survived by one son and her daughter in law, Cecil and Margie Smith of Camdenton, Missouri; one sister, Leonice Thompson of Watertown, South Dakota, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Additional graveside services were held Monday, March 12, 1984- 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas, under direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Serving as escorts: Norman Stoll, Charley Storie, Bill Barnes, Jim Anderson, Ray Fleischer, and Milton Thomas. Honorary escorts: Arthur Dye, Dan Hilger, Glen Haldeman, Glenn Smith.
