Porter Cemetery

Porter Cemetery is located in Pulaski County, MO., on Highway 17, north of Crocker. Turn at Ozark Trails, then about 4 miles.

According to Tombstone Inscriptions of Pulaski County, Porter Cemetery was established by Joseph and Elizabeth Porter, who settled in Pulaski County in 1867. There are about 48 marked graves here, and ten unmarked graves. In addition to members of the Porter family, members of the Anderson, Anthony, Cadwell, Davis, Denton, Dodson, Hartsock, Howey, Odom, Rhea, Sears, Smelcer, Stokes, and Teeple families are buried here. The oldest dated tombstone is that of Nancy A. Hartsock, wife of Chas. W., who died 28 March, 1871. One of the newest stones belongs to Sarah E. Smelcer who passed away 11 January, 1953.

  1. Hello - I realize this is an old blog but, I'm having difficulty following these directions to the Porter Cemetery. I hope you, or someone can help.

Based on a map of the area, Ozark Trail - which I presume is a road? - is not off Hwy 17. The map shows it to be off Hwy EE which turns west off Hwy 17 just before reaching Iberia, MO. Can you get me any closer to finding an exact location for this cemetery?

    Thanks!
