Tanner Cemetery is located in Pulaski County, MO., on Highway 133 at the junction of Highway BB.
Tombstone Inscriptions of Pulaski County refers to Tanner Cemetery as Rowland and McGown Cemetery. This is probably due to the fact that only two tombstones remain and they belong to Sarah Rowland, wife of W.G., who died 31 March, 1886, and Elsa Victoria McGowan who passed away 4 February 1920. According to Mrs. McGowan’s death certificate she is buried in Tanner Cemetery. She was a daughter of Joe Tanner and Alice Bonegan, and most likely the wife of Ulysis McGowan and died after giving birth. Her death certificate was not available to the cemetery researchers in 1984-1985 when the tombstone books were first published. Tombstone Inscriptions of Pulaski County notes that there are 3 or 4 unmarked graves here. It is possible that they are also members of the Tanner family.
UPDATE: Pulaski County Historical Society & Museum's Cemetery Committee visited Tanner Cemetery 3 April, 2011. The area fenced off has room to contain 30-35 burials.
