Carl Andrew Howard 1892-1984

Carl Andrew Howard, son of Charles and Ann Cush Howard, was born August 20, 1892 in Waverly, Iowa, and passed away in Lebanon, Missouri on June 4, 1984 at the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 15 days.

Carl accepted Christ as his personal saviour and was saved at Center Point Baptist Church 26 years ago.

In 1912, he was united in marriage to Margaret Flora Tarney, and to this union was born five children. Margaret passed away in June 1942.

In 1948, he was united in marriage to Elaine Roth.

His occupation most of his life was on the railroad, and he retired as a Switchman from the Illinois Central Railroad.

After losing his eye sight, he moved to this area in 1972, where he made his home with his daughter, Rose Flynn, until March 1984, when he entered Tri-County Nursing because Rose was not able to care for him due to surgery.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, daughters, Margaret Craig and Irene Kistner.

Survivors left to mourn his passing include his wife, Elaine Howard of Dixon, Illinois; one son: Henry C. Howard of Escandido, California; two daughters: Rose Flynn, Rt. 1, Waynesville, Missouri, and Pauline Yacono of Chicago Heoghts, Illinois; three step-daughters: Joan, Elaine, and Tootie; three step-sons: Jack, Bud, and Ronnie Gibbons; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; other relatives, and a host of friends.

Services were held Thursday, June 7, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with ministers Bill Tallant and Rev. J.W. Brewer officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and Marcia Shadel, organist.

Escorts were: John Greer, Harry Flynn, Pete Wilson, Carl Carrell, Warren Tidquist, and Lester Fortner.

Burial was in the Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland.
