Fred Harrison Steward 1895-1984

Fred Harrison Steward was born to John and Martha Farquer Steward , in Pulaski County on September 30, 1895, and departed this life in Springfield, Missouri, on March 13, 1984. He had attained the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 13 days.

On May 28, 1920, he was united in marriage to Lora King, and to this union was born 3 daughters.

Fred served his country in the U.S. Army during World War I. He worked in Food Service at Fort Leonard Wood as a meat cutter, from which occupation he retired. He has been a member of The First Baptist Church for many years and served as a member of the Richland R-4 School Board for 15 years. He was a 50 year member of Richland Masonic Lodge #385 A.P. & A.M.. He enjoyed raising cattle, and was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Sam and Bill, and 3 sisters, Grace Knapp, Myrtle Ogle, and Anna Newell.

He is survived by his wife, Lora, of the home, 3 daughters, Helen Pearcy of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Hazel Kula, Cascade, Colorado, and Freda Davis, Charlotte, North Carolina; 1 brother, John Steward, Lebanon, Missouri, 1 sister, Verna Ogle, Mt. Vernon Nursing Home, Mt. Vernon, Missouri, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, other relatives and a host of friends.

Fred was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Services for Fred H. Steward were held at the First Baptist Church 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 1984. Officiating at the services was Rev. Roger Marshall. Music was provided by Bruce Pafford, Soloist, and Valarie Pafford, Organist. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Escorts were Gray Brown, Bill Winfrey, Richard Shockley, Jack Williams, Keith Warren, and Serle Stewart. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.
