Orvin Clyde Grefsrud, Jr. 1934-1985

Orvin Clyde Grefsrud, Jr. was born a son of Orvin Otto Grefsrud, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Tinn) Grefsrud on December 12, 1934 in Elgin, Illinois, and he departed this life January 3, 1985 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 50 years.

He was united in marriage to Asako Kusakabe, and to this union six children were born. Mr. Grefsrud enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17, faithfully serving his Country in Korea, Viet Nam (twice) and many other parts of the world. Among the many Service Medals and awards he received he was most proud of the Meritorious Service Medal.

He retired from the military having attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, grade 4, and although he retired from the United States Army his heart was always with the military. He felt proud to have been allowed to serve his country.

He was employed by D.I.O., Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri at the time of his death.

He was very loyal to his family, friends, and his work. He felt his work was never finished and looked forward to continuing on with what had to be accomplished.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Mr. Grefsrud is survived by his loving wifeAsako, and his children Nancy Lee Boulware, Orvin Ricky, James Clyde, Sandra Lee, and Bruce Wayne Grefsrud.

Mr. Grefsrud was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a daughter Elizabeth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 25, 1985 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Richard L. Zabel officiating.

Music was furnished by Organist Marjorie Link.

Burial with full military honors was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.
