Richland man killed when thrown from motorcycle

A Richland man was killed Saturday when he was thrown from his motorcycle while trying to pass another vehicle, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Randy L. Fishback, 52, was driving a 2005 Iron Horse north on Missouri 7, two miles north of Interstate-44 at about 5:30 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the Patrol.

Fishback attempted to pass a 1998 Chevrolet pickup driven by Connie Shrewsbury, 54, of Waynesville, when the motorcycle overturned, ejecting Fishback into the path of the pickup which then struck Fishback, the Patrol report said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Pulaski County Coroner Mike Hartness, according to the report.

Fishback was wearing a helmet at the time, the report said.

Shrewsbury suffered minor injuries, the report said. She was wearing a seat belt, the Patrol said.

Randy L. Fishback, 52 of Richland, passed away at 6:24 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Richland.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13 at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland.

Mr. Fishback is survived by his wife: Sharon; one daughter: Jessi Lynn Fishback; his mother: Nathalea Hammack all of Richland; four siblings: Noble Ray Fishback and Charles N. Hammack both of Richland, Judy Ann Thorpe of Rolla and Donna Jane Smith of St. Louis; his favorite Uncle: Keith Lundh of Richland; his favorite niece: Julia Chambers of Licking, other relatives and friends.
