Wilbur Claud Warman 1936-2009

Wilbur Claud Warman, of Springfield, formerly of Dixon, was born January 4, 1936, at Hancock, a son of George William Lewis and Lattie Cecil (Jones) Warman, and departed this life at 2:24 P.M., Thursday, October 1, 2009, in St. Johns Hospital, Springfield. Mr. Warman had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 73, years, 8 months, and 28 days.

Mr. Warman was united in marriage on December 5, 1953, at Dixon to the formers Miss Barbara Jane Bays, and to this union four sons were born. He was preceded in death by his father on May 9, 1967; his mother on April 3, 1995; two sons, Gregory P. Warman on August 31, 2002 and James Warman on September 13, 2006; two brothers, Melvin Warman in July of 1986 and Kenneth Warman in May of 1986; and one sister, Mildred Hoehne in 2007.

He was baptized in 1946 at the age of 10 in Greasy Creek near Iberia by his father and at the time of his passing was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church. Mr. Warman was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon. He had been employed with Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood in the supply division as a manager and later for the Missouri Department of Revenue as an appraiser. After his retirement he was part of Warman Auction Service and was a minister in the Dixon area.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Warman include: his wife, Barbara Warman of the home in Springfield; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Anita Warman, Springfield; Randy Warman, Kansas City; and Gay Warman, Dixon; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Warman at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, October 4, 2009, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Rev. David Hokanson, pastor, Burnett Christian Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment with full military honorary under the auspice of Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Warman were Nathan Warman, William Warman, Clinton Warman, Ronnie Plemmons, Neal Sullivan and Danny Bassett. Honorary pallbearers were Mathew Lopez, Layne Sullivan, Tanner Plemmons and Travin Plemmons.

Memorial contributions may be made per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Dixon Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
