Raymond Levega Edwards 1909-1984

It was on April 9, 1909, at Laquey, Missouri that the Lord blessed the home of John and Nancy (York) Edwards with the gift of a son and they named him Raymond Levega.

March 7, 1931 was the date of his marriage to Ruth Alean Walters.

Raymond was baptized into the Christian faith in the spring of 1931. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Crocker.

Raymond worked as a bus driver and a truck driver until he retired in 1972.

Raymond had been in failing health and entered the Pulaski County Hospital in Waynesville, where he passed away Tuesday morning, having been granted an earthly life of 75 years, two months and three days.

He is survived by his wife: Roth of the home; one son: Gene Edwards and one daughter: Barbara, Mrs. Donald Blanton, both of Crocker, Missouri; one sister: Monta Ray of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers: Johnnie Edwards of Lebanon, Missouri and Roy Edwards of Crocker, Missouri; one half-sister: Jessie Brogan of Cabool, Missouri; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, one half-sister, one half-brother and one grandchild.

Services were held at the First Christian Church in Crocker, Missouri, Friday June 15, 1984, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Merwlyn McMillian officiating.

Pallbearers were: Eugene Edwards, Mike McKenzie, Ronnie Edwards, randy Edwards, Keith McKenzie, and Cal Butts.

Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home.
