Bessie Aline (Derrington) Newcomer 1895-1984

Bessie Aline Newcomer, daughter of Lusch and Matilda Cravens Derrington, was born September 2, 1895 at Polar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life October 21, 1984 in the Lebanon Care Center where she had been a resident for several years.

On August 10, 1918 she was united in marriage with Earl Moore and to this union was born one daughter, Dorothy, who survives. Her husband preceded her in death.

At an early age Bessie professed her faith in Christ and for many years had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Richland.

On July 29, 1934 she was united in marriage with Harry Newcomer. He preceded her in death February 12, 1976.

For a number of years she had been a member of Success Chapter #87 Order of the Eastern Star, Richland.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schaefer of Harrison, Arkansas, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Ollie, Walter, Eli, Roy, and Lawrence Derrington and one sister Sue Williams.

Services were held Tuesday, October 23, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Marshall officiating.

Music was provided by DeLores Shadel organist.

Escorts were family members.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.
