Earl E. Payne 1901-1984

Earl E. Payne, son of Lige and Delitha Kissinger Payne, was born March 20, 1901 in Swedeborg, Missouri and departed this life May 6, 1984, at the age of 83 years, one motnh, and 16 days.

Earl was united in marriage with Effie Bartlett on August 11, 1927, and to this union was born three children, who survive.

As a young man Earl was converted and baptized into the Swedeborg Christian Church, although most of his married life he attended Elm Grove Baptist Church, which was near their home. He farmed most of his life in the Richland area.

Those left to mourn his passing are two sons: Gerald of Richland, and Don of Carrolton, Texas; one daughter, Dolores Mitchele of Muscatine, Iowa; one brother, Merrel of Richland; four sisters, Bertha Peterson and Eula York, both of Richland, Grace Manes of Swedeborg, and Cora Harris of Ashley, Missouri; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Ethel Eckman and Carmel Roam, and by his wife Effie, who passed away October 3, 1981.

Services were held Wednesday, May 9, 1984, 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Henry Addison officiating.

Music was provided by Dwight Roam, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were: Merrel Lee Payne, Phillip York, Kerry Payne, Ralph Peterson, John Henry Mitschele, and Dillwood Tabor.

Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland.
