Johnie Douglas Cooper 1932-1985

Johnie Douglas Cooper, son of Frank and Marylena Ennis Cooper, was born in Cranenest, Virginia June 4, 1932 and departed this life June 21, 1985 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 53 years. He was united in marriage to Chun Cheng October 15, 1970.

Johnie entered the United States Army in June of 1950 and served his country for 26 years and 16 days, during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of the American Legion post #240.

Several months ago he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour .

Johnie is survived by his wife Chun; two daughters, Tina and Maria of the home; two sons, Johnie Jr., of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Rocky of Hollywood, Florida; his stepdaughter, Debbie Hopper of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, Tom of St. Paul, Virginia; five sisters, Ethel and Patsy Fields and Virginia Dean of Dante, Virginia, Margie Neece of Wakenva, Virginia, and Nora Allen of Dayton, Ohio; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Cooper.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 1985 from the Colonial Funeral Chapel United States Army Chaplain officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Honorary Escorts were Pete Brown, Joe Pasley, Gallard June, Lloyd Bryant, Roy Henson, and Eugene Pallai.
