Everald Rose 1922-2009

Everald Rose, of rural Dixon, was born on August 4, 1922, in Pulaski County, a son of Milam and Margaret Ellen (Miller) Rose, and departed this life at 8:56 A.M., on Sunday, June 28, 2009, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, following a brief illness. He had attained the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

Mr. Rose was united in marriage on February 10, 1944, at St. Louis, to the former Miss Betty May VanMeter, and to this union, seven children were born. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Sue Rose on October 30, 1951; his father in 1971; his mother in 1959; two brothers, Andrew Rose in 1970; and Pearl Rose on March 27, 1997; five sisters, Gladys Page in 2006; Della Jane Rose in 1934; Ruth Rose in 1934; Wanda Williams on March 2, 2008; and Dorothy Williams in 2004.

He was a member of the Gasconade Baptist Church near Dixon and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Saviour and followed his Lord in baptism early in life. In earlier years, he had been employed by Emerson Electric Company, St. Louis. Mr. Rose was a construction worker during the building of Fort Leonard Wood in 1938 and 1939. In 1963, he went to work for Pulaski County as a Road Grader Operator and worked in that position for 25 years until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Rose was also a life long farmer in Pulaski County.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Rose include: his wife, Betty Rose, of the home near Dixon; three sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. and Kay Rose, St. James; Ralph and Mila Rose, Green Castle; and Roger and Ellen Rose, Dixon; three daughters and one son-in-law, Gloria Bryant, Bruce, Mississippi; Frances Johnson, Waynesville; and Susie and Gary Davis, Dixon; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Marvin and Loretta Rose, Dixon; and John Rose, Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters, Helen Berquist, Saratoga, California; and Wilma Keeth, Paradise, California; sixteen grandchildren; Tonya Rose, Mary Sue Ray, Betty Jo Rose, Angie Lackin, Andie Ridenhour, Brian Rose, Cheryl Lumbard, Ryan Rose, Betty Jean Bryant, Tim Johnson, Kevin Davis, Jamie Davis, Michael Davis, Joey Davis, Danny Davis, and Anthony Rose; two step-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Rose were conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Timothy Blackwell, First Pentecostal Church, Vichy, officiating. Three musical selections, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Candle In the Wind”, and We’ll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again”, were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Gasconade Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Rose were Tim Johnson, Brian Rose, Kevin Davis, Jamie Davis, Michael Davis, Joey Davis, Danny Davis, Anthony Rose and Ed Jenelowicz.
