Irene J. (James) Moore 1888-1984

Irene J. Moore was born a daughter of Clement Alphonso James and Eunice Belle (Cable) James on August 22, 1888, in Plato, Missouri, and she departed this life in April 11, 1984 at the Phelps County Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri in her 95th year.

She united in marriage to William Ottis Moore on April 5, 1911, and to this union two children were born. They shared 52 years together.

Mrs. Moore, along with her husband, were in the grocery business for 30 years. They worked together until his death, after which she continued for one year, and then she retired. She was very active, caring for her home, garden, and family. She returned to Plato, Missouri in May, 1983, to care for her invalid brother, and after his death she continued to make her home in Plato, feeling good to have returned back to live where she had been born.

She is survived by one son: Elijah Moore of Troy, Michigan; one daughter: Dimple Fahle of Livonia, Michigan; two brothers: Orin James of Tulot, Arkansas, and Floyd James of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; one sister Belle Pick of Trumann; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 15, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Those serving as escorts were grandsons: Tommy Moore, Raymond Moore, Sheldon Gaines, Steve Herrick, Douglas Fahle, LeRoy Fahle, and William Moore.
