Vernie Raymond Pruett 1910-1984

Vernie Raymond Pruett was born a son of Alva Pruett and Emma (Davis) Pruett on March 31, 1910, in Pulaski County, Missouri, and he departed this life on September 21, 1984 at the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri in his 74th year.

He united in marriage to Jewell Crisman May 8, 1927, and they enjoyed 57 years together and to this union one son was born, Harold Pruett.

He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He was a long time resident of Pulaski County, where he was a farmer and stockman all of his working years.

He survived by his wife Jewell of the home; three grandsons: John Pruett of Springfield, Missouri, Robert Pruett of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Chip Pruett of the state of New York; one granddaughter: Susan Mentola of the state of Florida; three great grandchildren: Jason and Angela Mentola and Laurie Pruett; one brother Virgil Pruett of Licking; and one half sister: Dorothy Coldiron of West Plains, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his only son Leland Harold Pruett on March 30, 1979.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 23, 1984, 2:30 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Norman Sanders officiating.

Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Pianist was Pauline Laughlin and soloist was Janell Walters.

Those serving as escorts were: Bill Pruett, Clarence Crismon, Mike Terrio, Jim Parks, Vince Parks, and Lenny Parks.

Honorary escorts were: George Lane, Lawrence Weatherly and Clyde Wheeler.
